Earnest Intercession for Respect
Gossip is insidious. Evil, malicious, thoughtless words can cut to the heart and shred the reputation, leaving us gasping for breath in a place with little or no oxygen. As I said, gossip is a destroyer, from the inside out. A slow, simmering death.
What if I—like Rodney Dangerfield—get no respect? What if I get treated like a bumbling oaf, or a foolish idiot, or a pie-in-the-sky dreamer, not worth anything? Or, rather, worth only the cruel gossip people spread about me?
I know that God is not pleased with loose lips, and God does not want any of God’s children to be put to shame. No matter what. What can people do to me? Not much. Instead, I am told to put my trust in God and God’s ways. God’s will, too.
Dear Lord, thank You for protecting me from the evil thoughts, words and deeds of those who would do me harm. Protect my loved ones, too. Help us to prevail against any wicked source, and lead us together in Your sight. Thanks so much.
